Description:
The site of the April 1, 1865 Battle of Five Forks, the Five Forks Battlefield Unit is one site of Petersburg National Battlefield. As a result of this fight, much of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia was wiped out, helping pave the way towards General Lee's surrender at Appomattox. Located about 18 miles east of the main unit of the park, located in Petersburg, the main unit offers more history and information about the sites at this preserved battle site.
